Pletenica is a braided bread that comes in various shapes and is made from enriched leavened dough. It is known in most parts of Slovenia and prepared to regional recipes. Baked on major holidays it is served also when people celebrate personal milestones or completion of work. Today, these sweet breads are a regular feature of ceremonial spreads; they are a part of restaurant menus and tourist offers.
