A new unit – Slovene Braille – has been inscribed into the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage upon the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum / Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The initiative for the entry was submitted by the Zveza društev slepih in slabovidnih Slovenije, which is also recorded as the bearer of the unit.
At the proposal of the Slovene etnographic museum/Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture has inscribed the 134th element called Distilling (Žganjekuha) into the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Slovene Ethnographic Museum as the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, has in the past few days issued two new publications presenting intangible cultural heritage that is inscribed in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovenia.
The Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage, managed by the Ministry of Culture, with Slovene ethnographic Museum as the Coordinator responsible for preparing proposals for inscription on the list, already includes 133 units of intangible cultural heritage.

At the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, which performs the tasks of the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, two new units were inscribed in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage – St. John’s Caroling in Adlešiči and the surrounding area and Making simple folk musical instruments.
The Slovenian Museum and Archives Clevland is hosting an exhibition on the intangible cultural heritage of Slovenia from March 1 to the end of July 2025.
The cultural holiday (February 8, 2025) was once again carnival-themed at SEM. For the seventh year in a row, the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, as the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, has prepared an exhibition about carnival customs and carnival characters – this year on the theme of Pust Mozirski.
At the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum / Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture inscribed the 124th unit of intangible cultural heritage – Carpentry – into the Register of Intangible Heritage on 24 December 2024.
The 19th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took place from 2 to 7 December 2024 in Asuncion, Paraguay, was also attended by the Republic of Slovenia, represented at the session by Tanja Roženbergar, representative of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum / Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
