At the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, which performs the tasks of the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, two new units were inscribed in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage – St. John’s Caroling in Adlešiči and the surrounding area and Making simple folk musical instruments.
The Slovenian Museum and Archives Clevland is hosting an exhibition on the intangible cultural heritage of Slovenia from March 1 to the end of July 2025.
The cultural holiday (February 8, 2025) was once again carnival-themed at SEM. For the seventh year in a row, the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, as the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, has prepared an exhibition about carnival customs and carnival characters – this year on the theme of Pust Mozirski.
At the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum / Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture inscribed the 124th unit of intangible cultural heritage – Carpentry – into the Register of Intangible Heritage on 24 December 2024.
The 19th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took place from 2 to 7 December 2024 in Asuncion, Paraguay, was also attended by the Republic of Slovenia, represented at the session by Tanja Roženbergar, representative of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum / Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The 15th session of the regular annual general assembly of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as the Centre) was held on 4 November 2024 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
At the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, which performs the tasks of the national Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture inscribed two new units in the Register - the Preparation of the mežerli and the Volunteer Firfighting.
Between 9 and 11 October 2024, the 18th meeting of the SE Europe Network of Intangible Cultural Heritage experts took place in Warsaw, Poland, under the title Living Heritage in an Urban Context.
On September 27, 2024, the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana and the Slovene Ethnographic Museum organized a round table in SEM in the Year of Heritage - Year of Inspiration! which was followed by a concert by the Cultural and Ethnomusicological Society Folk Slovenia.
Today (October 17, 2024) marks the first International Day of ICH, which was declared by the UNESCO General Assembly last year. On this day, we pay attention to the intangible cultural heritage, the safeguarding of which is directed by an international document that has so far been accepted by 183 signatory countries, including the Republic of Slovenia.
