The Sorica dialect is a partially Slovenized Tyrolean (German) dialect, now spoken by only a handful of inhabitants of the upper part of the Selška Valley, descendants of German-speaking immigrants who came here from the Tyrol in the 13th century, settling in Sorica, Danje, and the neighbouring villages under the mountain ridge of Ratitovec in the Municipality of Železniki.
