Škoromatija, a Shrovetide custom

Škoromatija is a Shrovetide custom on the southern edge of the Brkini hills and around Podgrad. On Shrove Saturday or Sunday škoromati go around the houses collecting gifts and on Ash Wednesday they bury or burn Shrovetide.


The bearers of the element of the intangible cultural heritage are (4):

1. Cultural Society Hrušica - Škoromati from Hrušica

2. Škoromati from Ritomeče

3. Cultural Society Podgrad - Section Škoromati, 

4. Škoromati from Javorje.
