Prekmurje Slovene (prekmurščina) is a dialect from the Slovene region bordering Hungary and Austria. Until the standardisation of Slovene language norms in the mid-nineteenth century, this was a regional variation of the Slovene language (alongside Carniolan).
The element of the intangible cultural heritage has a lot of bearers who are, due to the large number, not being inscribed in the Register.
