Firing a mortar is a traditional way of celebrating Easter and May Day, as well as certain local festivities and ceremonies. It originates from the folk belief that noise drives away evil forces. It is carried out by groups all across Slovenia.
The bearers of the element of the intangible cultural heritage are (3):
