Škoromátija is a Shrovetide custom in the southern edge of the Brkini region and the Podgrad–Matarsko Valley.
Dressed in various Shrovetide characters (such as Škopit, Škoromat with bells, etc.), the Škoromati go from house to house collecting gifts.
In some villages, on Ash Wednesday, the Pust (Shrovetide figure) is either buried or burned.
