Once a part of the traditional wedding ceremony, the custom of inviting to wedding is still kept alive in Slovenia’s north-easternmost region of Prekmurje. The person performing the custom is called pozvačin – on the bride and groom’s request he visits their relatives, neighbours, friends and acquaintances to invite them to the wedding. The highlight of this ceremony is his humorous invitation speech.
