New inscription in the Register

As the 119th element of intangible cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture inscribed the Sustainable forest management element in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum as the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on June 19th.


The following bearers were identified alongside the element: forest owners, the , Association of Forest Owners of Slovenia, the Slovenia Forest Service, Pro Silva Slovenia - the association for sustainable forest management and the Pahernik Foundation. Due to the large number of the bearers, they will not be inscribed in the Register. The initiative was proposed by the Carinthian Regional Museum

Sustainable forest management is based on planned work with the forest. In the foreground is concern for the integrated functioning and preservation of the forest ecosystem. It includes knowledge and skills about habitats, selection of tree species, standing buildings, forest care and restoration, and imitates the structure and development of natural forests.

 

 


Register currently contains of 119 elements in 362 evidented bearers.

The next deadline for submitting initiatives for inscribing new elements in the Register is September 15, 2024.
