Two new inscriptions in the Register

logotipAt the proposal of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, which performs the tasks of the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, two new units were inscribed in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage – St. John’s Caroling in Adlešiči and the surrounding area and Making simple folk musical instruments.

St. John’s Caroling in Adlešiči and the surrounding area: On the eve of the bonfire (24. 6.), also the evening of the longest day of the year, white-dressed singers from Adlešiči, called krêsnice, visit homes in Adlešiči and the surrounding areas. By singing bonfire songs, they bring blessings, and the locals treat them to treats and gifts.

One bearer is registered with the unit: KUD Božo Račič Adlešiči - singing group Kresnice.

Making simple folk musical instruments: Making simple folk musical instruments from natural materials includes making musical instruments that are used as sound toys for children, for leisure and entertainment of youth and adults, and occasionally replace artisanal and factory-made musical instruments. They are made by hand and intended primarily for personal use.

One bearer is registered with the unit: Marino Kranjac.

The Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, maintained by the Ministry of Culture, currently includes 126 units and 382 bearers of the intangible cultural heritage.
