Firing or bursting with mortars is a traditional form of celebrating Easter, the first of May, some local holidays and ceremonies. It originates from the popular belief that noise drives away evil forces. It is performed by groups of mortarmen all over Slovenia. Shooting with mortars has been inscribed in the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2019.
